Hand Embroidery: Pink Rose Video
Hand Embroidery: Pink Rose by Avis Lashonda
In this video, I will show you how I hand embroidered this beautiful pink rose from start to finish.

“Your Presence”
There is this feeling of great joy that floods my heart every single time that I complete a piece of art. I am so very pleased with how this piece turned out. If you would like to see more work in progress videos and images feel free follow me on Instagram. My Instagram name is @avislashonda.

Hand Washing My Hand Embroidery
8/28/21
I hand wash all of my embroideries to remove all oils that were transferred from my hands on to the piece while holding the piece for 8 months. Also, washing the piece will shrink the cotton of the threads and fabric which in return will tighten the piece. You want to remove the oils from the piece to ensure that your fingerprints don’t appear on the piece over time.

Work in Progress
I finally finished this portrait now all I have to do is wash and dry this piece. This is my fourth hand embroidered portrait. I’m learning so much so quickly! Photos of the finished portrait coming soon.

Next week’s goal will be to finish the text on the dress. After the dress is done I’m going to cut the portrait out of the fabric it’s on now and appliqué it to a larger piece of fabric.
Rest In Peace
Alfred R Hoggard **2-26-19** (Ps: I lost my father to cancer last week. This piece will be dedicated to him. I am Incorporating the letter/poem I wrote him today on the dress. Later, when this is all done I plan to make a short film about just how much of an impact my father has had on my work.)
